Systems Management and Assurance
C&SS provides our expertise in systems management and assurance to the NCI-Frederick community free of charge. If you ever have a computer or technology questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

C&SS provides a variety of systems management services to the NCI-Frederick community. These include, but are not limited to:

IT Security and Assurance

C&SS implements, audits, and assists with IT Security and Assurance issues, including compliance with NIH IT Security Policy. Please see the Computer Security Page for further information.

Networked Storage / Tape Backup

he Computer Services Networking and Communications group provides daily administration efforts for the majority of NCI-Frederick local area networks (LAN's). These services, freely available to the NCI-Frederick community, include:

      Design and Implementation of Local Area Networks
      Configuration and Daily Administration of Networked Resources and Services
      Design of Data Integrity (Backup and Recovery) Solutions
      Anti-virus and Systems Security Assistance

Web & Database Hosting

If you would like to host a web site or database that your group has developed, C&SS is happy to provide you with the neccessary server space and configuration. By hostings your web site or database on C&SS servers, you will reap the rewards of high performance servers, automated backups, regular OS updates, and C&SS expertise.

UNIX System Administration

Our staff administers UNIX servers. C&SS can provide you with guidance on your own UNIX systems.

Microsoft Windows System Administration

Our staff administers Windows servers for many groups on campus. C&SS can host your Windows applications, manage a dedicated server for your group, or provide you with guidance on your own Windows systems.

Network Servers

Network servers allow groups to share documents and printers. They can also allow for simpler and safer backup of important files. C&SS can provide your group with a dedicated network server or space on an existing server.

Systems Design & Guidance

C&SS provides free IT systems design and guidance to any person or group on the NCI-Frederick campus. We can help you to develop an effective and manageable system that fits your requirements perfectly. For more information, please see IT Advocacy & Consultation.
